Dr. Jeffrey Nii Armah Aryee, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Meteorology and Climate Science, has been appointed as a Senior Fellow at the Microsoft AI Economy Institute (AIEI), an initiative of the Microsoft AI for Good Lab.
Dr. Aryee is the only African selected in this year’s distinguished global cohort of fellows, bringing critical insights from across the continent to the forefront of global AI discourse.
The AIEI is a pioneering corporate think tank dedicated to advancing independent research and developing actionable solutions to help societies worldwide adapt to the economic and social transformations driven by artificial intelligence. It convenes leading experts from academia, international organizations, industry, and policy to address some of the most pressing questions of our time.
As part of his fellowship, Dr. Aryee will lead the Revolutionizing Tertiary Education for Africa’s Thriving AI Economy and Workforce (RetAIn) initiative. This research focuses on assessing inclusive access to AI education and workforce readiness across African Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), with particular attention to vulnerable and marginalized groups. The goal is to develop equitable, evidence-based recommendations that bridge existing gaps and empower the next generation of African innovators.
